The Genocide and Killing Fields Organized in Bangladesh in 1971

Feature report by local newspapers based on a report published by the Russian newspaper Pravda regarding the number of people killed in the Liberation War

The Liberation War of 1971 was not merely a struggle for independence; rather, it was a struggle for the survival of the Bengali nation. The Pakistani military forces and their local collaborators—such as Razakars, Al-Badr, and Al-Shams—systematically carried out horrific massacres against the Bengali population. During this period, genocide was deliberately carried out, along with rape of women and children, arson in rural areas, mass killing of male family members, and the planned murder of progressive intellectuals and educators.

During the Liberation War, nearly hundreds of thousands of people were killed, hundreds of villages were destroyed, and millions were rendered homeless and forced to cross the border in search of shelter. The killing of intellectuals, Mirpur Jalladkhana Killing Field, Chuknagar, Gomdandi, and other massacre sites stand as symbols of the brutality of that time. Historians have described these events as one of the most horrific genocides of the century—an extreme example.

Mariana Trench: The Dark Empire of Earth's Deepest Secrets

Mariana Trench

The world's oceans cover nearly 71% of our blue planet. Hidden beneath those vast waters are mysteries still beyond full human understanding. The most remarkable and enigmatic of those deep-sea worlds is the **Mariana Trench** — the deepest known point on Earth, scientifically and geologically unparalleled.

Located in the western Pacific, this trench is like a secret door leading into Earth’s inner abyss. Formed by tectonic plate collisions and millions of years of geological evolution, its extreme pressure, darkness and silence demand advanced submersibles and immense courage for exploration.

Mahasthangarh: The Oldest City of the East in the Depths of History

Mainamati

If you start walking one dawn along the banks of the Karatoa River, the silent dew drops settled on the grass suddenly become companions to the dust of your feet. Silence of the village all around, occasional bird calls, and from far away floats the breath of a forgotten city.
Just as you turn the bend of the river you see a high mound of brickwork—this is Mahasthangarh, an ancient city standing in the heart of Bengal.

History here is not written only in the fragile letters of stone—here, history floats in the air, flows like water, sleeps on the surface of the soil. As if every brick wants to whisper something, every doorway wants to open the epic of millennia.

Mainamati

In October 2017, astronomers made a discovery that changed our understanding of the cosmos. It was named ʻOumuamua, a Hawaiian word meaning “a messenger from afar arriving first.”

Since then, scientists have debated what it really was — a rock, a comet, or even something artificial. Here’s the full story of the mysterious interstellar visitor that continues to challenge our imagination.

Mainamati: The Land of Buddhist Civilization in Bengal

Mainamati

Mainamati, located in Cumilla district, is an archaeological treasure — once a major center for Buddhist education and religious practice. This region was not just a settlement but a spiritual and intellectual hub of an ancient Buddhist civilization.

In Bangladesh’s archaeological treasury, if some sites shine as gems, Mainamati is undoubtedly among them. Its ruins still silently whisper — “Beneath this soil lies a glorious history”.

The Solar System

The Solar System — our cosmic home — is a grand orchestra of planets, moons, comets, asteroids, dust, and plasma, all bound together by the invisible yet powerful embrace of gravity. Born nearly 4.6 billion years ago from a collapsing molecular cloud, it orbits one single star — the Sun, a massive ball of hydrogen and helium that fuels everything within this celestial family.

Beacon of Leadership

Nomadic Bangladeshi | Rezwan Ahmed

It is important to note that The Father of the Nation refers to the architects of nation-states in geographical and political history—not in a religious context.
